The Outdoor Education Journey of young Lauries men begins in Primary School as they venture out to Camp Laurence for the very first time.
Proudly operated by Sports Tuition, Camp Laurence is located on the shores of Lake Moogerah at the base of the Great Dividing Range in the beautiful Scenic Rim. The camp is located approximately 90 minutes south-west of Brisbane and 50 minutes from Toowoomba and Warwick.
The Camp Laurence experience is part of our holistic approach to education, designed to encourage our students to forge new relationships and step outside of their comfort zone. We’re proud to provide a quality, safe and dynamic experience for our students by providing a platform for personal growth through a sequential Outdoor Education Program that builds from year to year.
Students are encouraged to dive into the Camp Laurence experience with an open mind and enthusiasm for adventure. Our students especially enjoy canoeing, high and low ropes, mountain biking and archery activities on offer at Camp Laurence.
Located on the shores of Lake Moogerah – just one hour from Brisbane - Camp Laurence stretches across 11 hectares and features purpose-built cabin and dormitory-style accommodation, a large commercial kitchen and dining hall and dedicated spaces for the activities on offer.
In Middle School, the challenge and adventure goes up a notch!
Our students experience sleeping in a tent, cooking for themselves and navigating by canoe/foot/mountain bike to their campground. This part of the Camp Laurence experience encourages developing independence, taking responsibility and building resilience.
The Senior School Year 11 Leadership Retreat is held at Camp Laurence in Term 3. As a part of the retreat students take part in a series of sessions designed to help them reflect on their own personal values, discuss the attributes of a leader, discover the importance of taking calculated risks and how persistence, resilience and acceptance affect their abilities in a positive way. On the final night the students are joined by their parents and wider Lauries community for a Mass and BBQ dinner.
