The Associated Independent Colleges (AIC) is the largest private school sporting organisation in Queensland. Along with Lauries, it includes Iona College, Marist College Ashgrove, Padua College, St Edmund’s College. St Patrick’s College, St Peters Lutheran College and Villanova College. These eight member College participate across 16 sporting competitions - AFL, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Cross Country, eSports, Football, Golf, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Swimming, Tennis, Touch Football, Track and Field, Volleyball, Water Polo.

In response to feedback from a recent comprehensive survey involving staff, parents and students, the AIC recently reviewed its sports offerings. This review led to significant changes, including the introduction of AFL, Rugby League and Chess into the competition. These additions reflect the AIC's commitment to evolving and meeting the interests and needs of its community.

The extensive AIC competition provides Lauries students with a structured environment to engage in competitive sport, with up to 70 games played in a single day.

The AIC also collaborates with Queensland School Sport through the Metropolitan East (Met East) pathway. This partnership provides students with opportunities to compete at higher levels and gain recognition in their respective sports. The Met East pathway is a crucial element in fostering athletic talent and offering students a clear route to state and national competitions.

The competition is made possible due to the committed Lauries staff, who often work as a co-curricular coaches. Some staff go above and beyond, committing to approximately 35 Saturdays a year, to ensure that the sports program runs smoothly.

Students at the College are often encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities (Music, Sport and other groups and clubs) to supplement their academic load. Beyond its physical fitness benefits, sport in the AIC can be an excellent pathway in developing well-round young men as it teaches valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership and resilience. These experiences contribute significantly to the personal growth and character development of students, preparing them for future challenges both on and off the field.
