New College Principal - Mr Ben Lowrie
In conjunction with EREA Colleges, St Laurence’s College is excited to affirm the appointment of Mr Ben Lowrie as College Principal.
Ben is well known to the St Laurence’s College community, serving as Deputy Principal at the College since 2021 and Acting Principal since Mr Chris Leadbetter’s departure in Term 1 earlier this year.
Ben is a well-respected educational leader with 14 years' experience in Senior Leadership positions in two leading Catholic Colleges in Brisbane. Prior to Ben’s commencement at St Laurence’s College in 2021, Ben was at Padua College for 18 years in a multitude of rolls including Vice Rector (Deputy Principal) Pastoral Care as well as Head of House. His leadership at both schools has been marked by his strong interpersonal skills, his own faith, his commitment to the holistic development of young people and the strategic development of school communities.
Ben demonstrates a deep commitment to the principles of Catholic education, spiritual development and ethical leadership. Importantly, Ben is an authentically compassionate leader, with a demonstrated commitment to his Catholic faith and the EREA touchstones.
His academic credentials include a Master of Leadership and Management in Education (with Distinction), Bachelor of Education (Secondary) majoring in Physical Education and English and most recently an EBD Training Services Certificate III in Business.
In his application for the role, Ben offered the following reflection on his vision for the future of St Laurence's College:
‘I am extremely excited, humbled and privileged to be applying for an opportunity to lead a community that I am deeply connected to and value. I am committed to delivering the improvement agenda, focusing on the six key strategic priorities outlined in the current St Laurence’s College Plan (2024 – 2027) and help continue the community of St Laurence’s College to grow and foster their Lauries Journey.’
The College would also like to recognise and show appreciation for the outstanding and inspirational leadership of Mr Chris Leadbetter at St Laurence’s College over the past eight years - something we were able to celebrate during Chris' Farewell Assembly on Friday 23 August.
