From the Dean of Teaching and Learning
Mid-Semester Break
The mid-semester break is a wonderful opportunity to refresh and renew before a busy, final push to the end of the school year. I advise all students to take this opportunity to not only relax and recharge, but also participate in activities that are active and life giving, such as acts of service, volunteering, and exercise.
For our Year 12s, this is your last opportunity to take some time to reflect on the year and put in place your final study routine.
Messages for the start of Term 4 …
Year 12 Finishing Strongly Program
The first three weeks of Term 4, our Year 12 students will participate in external exam specific workshops with their teachers. Each Faculty will utilise the mock exam results to target specific areas of improvement.
I thank Ms Stacey Tait, Head of Teaching and Learning - Senior School stait@slc.qld.edu.au for leading this program.
I ask that you support us in encouraging your son to utilise every minute possible, in preparation for their external assessment. We are aiming for students to ‘ramp up’ their efforts before the exam block which begins Monday 21 October.
Year 11 – Commencement of Unit 3
At the start of Term 4, Year 11 students will start work in Unit 3. This means that all results/marks contribute towards the calculation of their ATAR, if that is their chosen pathway. VET courses start competencies at the commencement of the course.
Secondary School Awards Celebration – Thursday 17 October
Our annual Secondary Awards Night is being held on Thursday 17 October. The event starts at 6.30pm, with pre-event nibbles and student displays from 5.30pm. Award winners will be notified via email, and award lists will be in student notices and outside House areas early next term.
