Year 12 Retreat
This week our Year 12s have embarked on a key moment as they come towards the end of their Lauries Journey. This week all 10 houses across five venues have been part of the Emmaus Retreat. Taken from the scripture of when two apostles, soon after the death of Jesus, came into his presence and at first not recognised him when he left they know they had been in the presence of Christ. Our Year12s reflect back on their Lauries Journey and are given two key questions across the three days: who do they carry and who carries them. It is always a privilege to be part of this experience as both students and staff take time to reflect and share in stories about Life Journey, Spirituality and Relationships. This culminating retreat in their journey has a tremendous impact on our students and families and gives us a chance to reflect and look forward and most importantly look at and value those who are most important to us.
Sony Camp
This week over 40 students from Loreto College and St Laurence’s College along with staff will participate in the annual Sony Camp. Students from both schools act as carers for the young people with disabilities to give their parents a weekend respite. This is a huge undertaking and we thank all those from both colleges who have been involved in the preparation.
Mr Mendoza and Ms O’Neill have been preparing for this for many months and we are grateful for the care they have taken in making sure this is a great camp for the young people. Thank you to all the parents who are donating time and also physical donations. Thanks to the strong fundraising from Walkathon, we are able to take the young people to Dreamworld for an exciting day out on Sunday.
