For the latest information, we recommend visiting our Careers Platform. There, you can access up to date resume and cover letter templates, gain insights into work experience opportunities in 2024, explore presentation slides used in information sessions for both students and parents, make a tax file number application and explore university study options while still in school.
St Laurence’s College Careers Expo
This week St Laurence’s College held its annual careers expo. We had representatives from interstate and local universities, TAFE, Essential Services, Apprenticeships and employment.
University Open Days
Tertiary Open Days offer invaluable opportunities for individuals to explore potential career paths, connect with industry professionals, and gain insights into specific areas of interest. At these events, prospective students can explore academic offerings, campus life and speak to lecturers and current students about future study and employment. These events offer immersive experiences, including facility tours, lectures, and interactions with faculty and students. See below for upcoming dates and times.
Australian Government School Leaver program
We are excited to share a fantastic opportunity with the Australian Government for 2023/24 Year 12 school leavers who are ready to kick-start their careers.
Applications for the 2025 Australian Government School Leaver Program will be opening on 7 August and closing on 28 August. We have positions available across over 20 participating Australian Government agencies in Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

Queensland Police Service: OPEN DAY TOMORROW
Join the QPS on 3 August between 9am–2pm at the Bob Atksinson Operational Capabilities Centre Open Day to learn all about a career with the Services Group. The Protective Service Group will have a stand at the training facility along with many other Queensland Police Service specialist units.
Bond University Ideas Camp
Grades 10 – 12 students interested in the areas of business and entrepreneurship are invited to attend the Bond University Ideas Camp on Wednesday 7 August from 9:00 – 2:00pm. The Ideas Camp is a one-day workshop, where they will interact with others interested in the field, hear from speakers in the entrepreneurial space and gather information to help them with their future ideas.
SLConX – Information Technology, Cyber and Web Design
The SLConX networking event focusing on careers in Information Technology, Cyber Security and Web Design will be taking place from 5:00pm - 6:30pm on Tuesday 23 July 2024 on Level 5 of ERPAC.
SLC students in Year 9 - 12 and their parents/caregivers are invited to hear from alumni who have established careers in these industries.
