Upcoming Senior Education Training Plan (SETP) Interviews

Our Year 10 students will have an opportunity to meet with a senior teacher regarding their future subjects/pathways. This is an excellent opportunity to review data, set SMART goals, and refine subjects if needed. These will occur throughout the day, scheduled for Thursday 1 and Friday 2 August with them attending their immersion on the alternate day.  When not completing their SETP interview, students will be completing modules in their Certificate II in Active Volunteering.

Some subjects require mandatory changes as they are not offered in Year 11 and Year 12. These include:

  • Applied Science
  • VTS A
  • VTS B
  • Business Communication
  • Cert II in Sport and Recreation

Potential future pathways can be found in the Senior Subject Handbook.

Academic Excellence Awards – Wednesday 24 July

We celebrated our Academic Gold, Growth and Black awards, along with our Inaugural Diploma of Business graduates on Wednesday 24 August this week, during our regularly scheduled assembly time. We also welcomed families of Academic Gold award winners and Diploma graduates for the Academic afternoon tea, later that afternoon. I congratulate all students who achieved these awards for their work in Semester 1 this year.

HPL on the Hill

On Thursday 25 August our Lauries Primary students were joined by other students from St Joseph’s, Kangaroo Point, St Columbus, Wiltson and Ipswich Junior Grammar School to complete several extension activities across our High School Faculties.  I’d like to thank Ms Kilburn, Ms Lightbody, Mr Keillor, Mr Bryden and Mr Malcolm for the incredible activities that were on offer along with the Ms Harris and Ms Lorraway for their tireless efforts in logistics for such an event.

If you feel that your son would benefit from being engaged in extension activities, please visit our website St Laurene’s College Extension Programs and contact Ms Lightbody, Assistant Head of High Potential Learners nlightbody@slc.qld.edu.au.
