Sacramental Program

The Faith Life of the College has always been strong at St Laurence's College and our Sacramental Program that has taken place over the last two years continues this strong tradition. Last year we saw over 40 students and staff explore their faith journey by undertaking sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Communion.

In 2024 we saw over 15 students and staff choose to undertake their sacraments. On Monday 2 September we were privileged to be joined by Bishop Tim Norton and Fr William Aupito luliano from the Dutton Park West End Parish to take our students and staff through the sacraments. This is a very special night for both staff and students with large numbers of families, sponsors and Godparents coming out to support the students and staff. The students begin the journey in early Term 2 when the RCIA candidates are taken through key sessions going over the key aspects of the mass and sacraments they are undertaking. We were heartened by the enthusiasm of our students this year through the way they engaged in these sessions. The students always took time to ask questions and their curiosity showed a commitment to understanding their faith in a deeper way.

These programs are not able to take place without an important connection to the parish and this year we have taken significant steps in deepening our relationship with our local parish. The appointment of Fr William to the Dutton Park – West End Parish saw him immediately connecting with the College becoming a regular fixture at our Friday Masses and whole College events. Fr William has had a great impact on our community with the students developing a good relationship with him. Fr William has been a fixture at our weekend sport showing an interest in cheering on our community. The relationship with the Dutton Park – West End and Toowong Parishes is a demonstration of Faith and Spirituality being thriving in our community.
