Around the Grounds – Round 7 Wrap Up

Last week, St Laurence’s College played against Marist in our Round 7 Fixtures. In Tennis, the competition was fierce, and although the College experienced several close losses, our 3rd and 4th IV managed to secure hard-fought victories, which was a definite highlight. In Rugby League, the College hosted all Senior Games in unusually hot weather. Despite not securing many wins, it was great to see the effort put in by all students in such difficult conditions. In Basketball, our boys showed great effort across all grades, with good results in Years 8, 9, 10, and 11, and a number of teams achieving good wins. Our First V played an outstanding game against the competition leaders, but unfortunately couldn’t quite hold on and went down in a very close match after leading for parts of the game.

This weekend, we are playing our last round of fixtures against Padua College. The Senior Rugby League teams are away at Ashgrove, with the College hosting all Junior Games this week. In Tennis and Basketball, our senior teams are away to Padua, with all junior games being played at our Home Venues. I would encourage every student to take the time this weekend to thank their respective coaches for the season. Our coaches devote a large amount of time to coaching and mentoring our students each season, and their efforts are greatly appreciated.

Holiday Training

Track and Field

During the holidays, our AIC Track and Field students will continue training and competing in warm-up meets to prepare for the AIC Championships on 4th and 5th of October. After three terms of sports, it's a challenging time for our track and field students to keep training over the holiday period. There have been some outstanding individual performances at the meets so far, with several boys achieving their personal bests.

All students who want to make the AIC team, as well as those who want to improve their general fitness and speed for specific team sports, are encouraged to check the holiday training information on the College App.

Athletic Development

Athletic Development sessions are open to all students in Years 7 - 12 during the holidays. Please refer to the College App's Athletic Development tile for the holiday timetable.

Cricket

Henschell Cricket Academy is hosting a holiday cricket camp from Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th September. For registration details, please see the College App's Cricket tile.
