From the Pastoral Office

After a busy first week back after holidays, we are blessed with a long weekend in which to recharge and regroup in readiness for a very busy Week 2. The highlights of the week were AIC Athletics and Jazz on the Hill. Congratulations to all athletes, musicians, choralists who competed or performed.

2025 College Captains

Earlier this week, the announcement of our 2025 College Captains took place. Congratulations must go to our College Captain, Luca Ellero and our Vice-Captains, Charles Taylor and Billy Rowan. A special mention to all shortlisted students who did an outstanding job throughout the leadership process and we wish them all the best in their pursuit of future leadership opportunities. We are truly lucky to have such a fine group of young men in Year 11 who are passionate about St Laurence’s College and are so willing to contribute positively to our community. The process continues this week as we look to finalise our House Captains and College prefects. We wish all students the best throughout this process and congratulate Luca, Billy and Charles who no doubt, will do an exceptional job leading our College in 2025.

Year 9

Week 2 is going to be an exceptionally busy week for our Year 9 cohort who have their Retreat Day on Tuesday, followed by camp from Wednesday to Friday.  We hope for fine weather in order to enjoy the opportunity for growth that camp provides.

Mr Paul Corfield and the team from our Faith and Mission Office have organised everything meticulously and we just require students to bring open minds and hearts for this important formation experience.  Students are to gather at ERPAC for roll marking at the start of the day.

Mr Matthew Yates and Mr Jesse d’Amico have been busy organising all elements of the Year 9 camp and I thank them for all of their work.  In addition, I thank the staff who have volunteered to attend and make the experience possible.  Students are to meet at the Sports Hall at 8am for roll marking before loading onto busses.

Best wishes for the week ahead.
