From the Pastoral Office
Dear parents, caregivers and members of the Lauries community,
Year 11 Leadership Process
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Luca Ellero (College Captain elect), Charles Taylor and Billy Rowan (Vice-Captains elect) on their appointments as College Student Leaders for 2025. Further congratulations to all students that were successful in a formal leadership position, we are confident that they will be make a difference for the better at our College next year.
However, as someone who has been involved in the process, I am aware that some amazing students have missed out on formal leadership positions, Mr Lowrie has affirmed these students and encouraged them not to let the absence of a badge deter them from continuing their great work, example and contribution to the College.
Thank you to Mr Lachlan Heshusius and Mr Nathan Burridge for the exceptional work and throughout leadership process.

Our Year 12 students are no doubt counting down the days to their impending graduation ceremony and are surely savouring their last weeks in classes before external exams commence. There are significant events that the Year 12 cohort have to look forward this week:
- Awards Night – Thursday evening
- Year 12 Graduation Assembly and House Assemblies - Friday
We have been fortunate as a College to have such a fine group of Year 12 students to lead our School this year. They have made a significant contribution to all aspects of College life and we look forward to celebrating their successes as they finish off their school year.
House Cup
Congratulations to Callan House, Mr David Sheehan (Head of House) and Chayse Ford (House Captain) on winning the House Cup for 2024.
Lauries Journey
This week, the Pat Cronin Foundation presented to our Year 10 and 11 students about social violence and navigating conflict. Guest speaker, Peter Kennedy, delivered the sad but powerful story of Pat Cronin who passed away as a nineteen-year-old from a single punch. The widespread and long-lasting consequences of this single act were also highlighted. Pat’s story illustrates the worst possible outcome of social violence and was shared to raise student awareness of strategies to make wise choices when it comes to anger and aggression.
I would like to thank Mr Matthew Yates, Mr Jesse d’Amico and Mr Nathan Burridge for their coordination of the camp and overseeing the three-day experience. Sincere thanks also to Ms Kristie Carroll, Ms Sally Salmon, Mr Dan Pearton, Mr Daniel Lane, Mr Jared Lewis, Mr Arek Waloszek, Mr Andrew Meyer, Mr Ellik Oosthuizen, Mr Harry Hungerford, Ms Sam Fraser, Ms Amelia Doughty, and Mr Patrick Fall who gave their time to journey with the students for the camp. Without the dedication of the staff this experience would not be possible.
We were fortunate that Lake Moogerah seemed to have its own weather system and after about an hour of heavy rain on the first afternoon, we were able to resume the program safely.

Dean of Pastoral Care (Senior School)
