Jazz on the Hill

Congratulations to members of Big Band 1, 2 & 3 who performed at last week’s Jazz on the Hill. The event was another incredible night on Gair Field with guests St Rita’s College Big Band, Centenary State High School Stage Band, Steamboat Jazz Band from JMI and special guests the Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band which included 2023 Old Boys Hugo Barrett & Andrew Schwantes. This event also marks the end of the 2024 Concert Series.

State Honours Ensembles Program (SHEP) – Queensland 

Congratulations to the following students who attended the Queensland State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) during the September holidays.

Flynn Byram, Angus Clark, Oscar Craig, Jasper Davis, Oscar Dean, Erik Dwyer, Luke Ferrer, Toby Hayles, Lewis Head, Gianluca Josey, Lorenzo Kleynendorst, Declan Layton, Rhys O’Halloran, Sebastian Przybylo, Lachlan Shine, Jayden Tews, Zachary Thomas-Greer, Finn Totterman, Ethan Watson

Students represented St Laurence’s College at a State Level in this intensive program, working with a team of eminent conductors.

Australian Honours Ensembles Program (AHEP)

Congratulations to Hugh Morley (Year 11) who attended the Australian Honours Ensembles Program during the September Holidays. This is a wonderful achievement by Hugh to work at the National level of the program offered by Griffith University.

Strings Recital 

Congratulations to our string’s students for a series of delightful recitals earlier this week. 

We would also like to thank Ms Tio & Mr Adkins for organising the event and accompanying students. 

Senior Music Leaders

We would like to acknowledge the contributions of our 2024 Senior Music Captain, Marcus Antica McCasker and Leaders: Ryan Chang, Jasper Davis, Alastair Greensill and Sean Miranda.  

With the 2025 Music Year now underway, we are proud to introduce our 2025 Senior Music Captain, Oscar Dean and Leaders: Erik Dwyer, Simeon Jeremijenko, Morgan Oiso, Anton Raggl-Erbs, Lachlan Skillen. 

Senior Music Camp

Our first Music event for the 2025 Music Year will be the Senior Ensemble Music Camp to be help at QCCC Mapleton this weekend. 

This camp will provide an opportunity for team building among the new ensembles and for students to expand their musicals skills.

Secondary Awards Night

Members of Brotherhood, Little Brotherhood, Symphony Orchestra, and Big Band 1 will all perform at the upcoming Secondary Awards Night. Information for ensembles has been sent home. This will be the final performance for all Year 12’s who are involved with these ensembles.
