Year 12 Graduation Assembly

It was a special day at the College today as we fondly farewelled our Year 12 students from their final classes with their Graduation Day Ceremony. Attended by over 500 family members and all students of the College, the Graduation Day Ceremony was a culmination of years of learning and a signifier that final exams and assessment begin next week. It was also an opportunity for the students of the College to farewell our Year 12 graduates, through the recognition of symbol and ritual. A highlight of the day for me was hearing Nathaniel (Year 5) and Teddy (Year 7) speak of the great influence our senior cohort has had on their Lauries Journey as Primary and Middle School students.

Secondary School Awards

As a pre-cursor to the Graduation Day Ceremony, the College last night held its Annual Awards evening. The evening was a fantastic celebration of academic success, faith in action, artistic and cultural excellence and fine sporting achievements. Throughout the evening there was the theme of personal excellence that resonated with the values of our community. While the Duce of the College will not be known for some time, I would like to publicly acknowledge Joshua Fisher, Alastair Greensill, Mitchell West and Patrick Woolley for achieving the four highest Year 12 Academic Awards last night, in receiving the dedication and merit awards for their year level. I also congratulate Gianluca Josey who received the Facere et Docere award and all the award winners across each year level.

Additionally, I would also like to acknowledge Ms Maria Mavritsky, Mr Michael Sharkey and Ms Courtney Sheldon for receiving the 2024 St Laurence’s College staff awards. I congratulate Maria, Michael and Courtney on their award and thank them for their unwavering service to both the College and the community.

Bishop Tim Norton

During the week, Catholic communities across Brisbane were made aware of Bishop Tim Norton’s appointment to the Diocese of Broome. Bishop Tim has been a great friend of St Laurence’s College. We congratulate Bishop Tim on his appointment and will keep him in our prayers as he begins the journey in his new position.

AIC Invitational Touch Competition
