Farewell Year 12s

Last night we farewelled our 2024 Seniors. I take great pride in the academic culture they modelled throughout their final year at the College. I would especially like to thank the work of the Academic Committee ably led by Steven Arvanitagis, Harvey Low and Patrick Hayles. These fine Lauries Gentlemen ably led our academic culture and never shied away from the hard work needed to build upon the work of previous years. I welcome our 2025 Academic Prefects of Anton Raggl-Erbs, Ben Stallman and Finn Totterman and look forward to seeing what they will bring to our proud culture of excellence.

The 2024 College Dux will be announced once ATAR’s and Year 12 results are released on Friday 13 December. Students will be able to check their QCAA Student Portal account from 9am to view their subject results. Students will also be able to view their ATAR from 8am on Monday 16 December via the QTAC website [ATAR Portal].

Best of luck to our Year 12 students and safe travels if they are travelling to attend Schoolies celebrations. I wish them all the very best with their future careers and pray that they achieve their desired result.

Year 11: Beginning Final Year of Assessment

While we are saying goodbye to our Year 12, we are welcoming our Year 11 to their first round of Internal Assessment. These tasks have been modelled throughout Year 10 and Unit 1 and 2 of Year 11. Today I sent an email to our Year 11 students to remind them of the effort needed to finish their Lauries Journey strongly. Some key points included:

  • Every mark matters. As internal assessment is becoming more competitive across the state, it is imperative that you maximise your internal results as much as possible
  • Utilise your time effectively
  • Reach out for support. There is a vast array of support mechanisms at the College.

A copy of the full email can be found HERE

Assessment Block Expectations

I thank parents for their support in helping us to implement our exam block expectations for Year 10 and Year 11 students. A reminder below – students are to:

  • Arrive at least 20mins before the start of the exam
  • Arrive with the correct equipment
  • Leave mobile phones in lockers or bags outside
  • Always adhere to academic integrity policies
  • Wear the correct uniform, be clean shaven and display positive behaviour around the College, particularly as the remainder of the school will be in normal classes.

Students studying Certificate courses and particularly those who have not completed the Certificate II in Active Volunteering, will be required to spend some of their exam block at school completing modules.

I wish all students and families the very best, particularly students preparing for upcoming assessment. I also wish our Year 12 students the very best as they transition to the next phase of their life – as a Lauries Old Boy.
