From the Pastoral Office

We are currently only at the end of Week 2 of a new school year and already so many events have occurred. Our 110 Year Mass, the Commissioning of our Year 12s and the beginning the Rite Journey program for Year 9 cohort.

Year 7 Program

Our Year 7 induction/transition program concluded today and I feel that it has been of great value to many students. In Week 1 students engaged in various formation lessons which were strategically designed to assist students to find their feet in Lauries Middle School. This was then complemented by our three-day camp, Retreat Day and Academic Induction Day. I would like to acknowledge the work of all staff who contributed to this program over the past two weeks delivering formation lessons, Retreat sessions and academic testing. For our Heads of House, Mr d’Amico, Old Boys, members of our Diverse Learning and Counselling teams who attended Year 7 camp, a huge thank you. Their time and energy allowed students to experience camp, make connections and give them the chance to learn outside of a classroom.

Old Boy Contributions

One demonstration of how meaningful a Lauries Journey is becomes evident via the number of past students who continue to return to the College to assist with the Lauries Journey of our current cohorts. Over the last two weeks and indeed next week, we have had a large number of Old Boys return to assist. Firstly, a Year 5 and Year 7 Induction Mentor Program saw past students return to help the newest Lauries boys settle in. They helped Year 5 and Year 7 students before school, during classes and at break times find their feet and some friendships. This assistance then extended through to Year 7 Camp. The newest members of our community, and our staff, found this help invaluable.

Round 1 Competition

We wish all students participating this weekend all the very best for Round 1.

All the very best for the coming week.
