Lauries Community Committee Information

Dear St Laurence’s Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to another exciting year at St Laurence’s College! We’re all about community here, and as the Vice President of the Lauries Community Committee (LCC), I wanted to reach out and share some awesome ways for you to get involved.

There’s a real sense of pride and connection at Lauries and we’d love for you to be part of it. Whether you’re new to the school or a seasoned parent, there are heaps of ways to get involved and make some great memories along the way. Here’s how:

1. Join the Lauries Community Committee (LCC)

We meet once every term and it’s a fantastic way to feel connected to the school and engage with the leadership team. The LCC covers a wide range of topics, including sport, music, social justice and fundraising—plus it’s an opportunity to meet fellow parents, share ideas and have some fun. It’s not just for Year 12 parents or those with issues—it’s for everyone! We’d love to see you there and hear your thoughts on how we can continue making St Laurence’s College a wonderful place for our boys.

The dates of LCC meetings for this year are:

  • Monday 17 February
  • Monday 19 May
  • Monday 28 July
  • Monday 13 October (AGM)

2. Attend School-Hosted Events

St Laurence’s hosts a number of fun and engaging events throughout the year and we’d love for you to be a part of them:

  • Trivia Night –Friday 28 February 2025
  • Lauries Sports Lunch (Details here)
  • The Much-Loved Lauries Gala (More info here)
These events are a great way to connect with others in the Lauries family while celebrating the spirit and legacy of the school.

3. Volunteer in the Lauries Canteen

The canteen is an essential part of our school community and we need your help! Volunteering in the canteen is a fun, rewarding way to contribute to the school and meet other parents. To find out more about volunteering or offer your support, please email canteen@slc.qld.edu.au. Volunteering once a term, semester or year is so appreciated.

4. Stay Connected through Facebook Groups

The best way to casually connect with other parents is through our year-level Facebook groups. Simply search for SLC (Graduating Year) Graduates Parent Group to find your group and join the conversation. It’s a great way to share updates, ask questions or just connect with other parents in your child’s year.

We genuinely believe that when parents engage with the school community, it creates a richer, more fulfilling experience for everyone involved—most importantly, our boys! So, please consider getting involved in one or more of the ways above. The more, the merrier - we can’t wait to see you at our next event or meeting!
