Around the Grounds – Sports Wrap-Up
The 2024 sports season kicked off last week, with St Laurence’s College taking on Villanova College in Round 1.
AFL
Our Opens AFL teams set the tone for the weekend, with both the Firsts and Seconds securing strong victories. The success continued across the board, with our Junior and Primary teams also delivering impressive performances.
Volleyball
Lauries volleyballers started the season on a high, winning the majority of Aggregate games. The First VI dominated their match, securing a commanding 3-0 victory away at Villanova’s Goold Hall.
Cricket
It was a challenging day on the cricket field, as Villanova showcased strong performances across all grades. Despite the tough competition, our players gained valuable experience and will be eager to bounce back in the next round.
Swimming
Friday night saw our swimmers competing in a team event at Iona against Iona College, Loretto College, and Lourdes Hill. It was a great opportunity for our squad to test themselves early in the season.
Round 2 – This weekend
This Saturday, Lauries faces off against St Patrick’s College in what promises to be another exciting round of competition.
Volleyball will take centre stage with a Return to Brady theme, celebrating the legacy of past victories at Brady Hall. While we now compete in the Sports Centre, we’re bringing back the same passion and tradition, with all matches being played at SLC home venues.
Representative Sport – 2025
The Representative season is fast approaching, with many District and Met East teams already holding trials in Term 1. Stay up to date via the app to ensure you don’t miss any important trial information.
