Term 1 Sport Wrap-Up: A Winning Start to 2025!
Term 1 sport has come to a close, and what a fantastic season it has been across all sports played.!
AFL once again dominated, with our First XVIII securing another premiership and St Laurence’s College winning the AIC Aggregate Cup for the eighth consecutive year. Multiple teams, including 2nd XVIII, 10A, 8A, 8B, 7B, and 5C, celebrated undefeated seasons. Huge thanks to Director of AFL, Mr Josh Ferguson, for his leadership.
Cricket saw some incredible performances, with our 10B, 9C, 7B, 7C, and 6A teams claiming premierships. Congratulations to all players, and a special thank you to Director of Cricket, Mr Sam Wiltshire, and First XI Coach, Mr. Wigan.
Volleyball had a standout season, securing seven premierships across multiple divisions, including 2nd VI, 3rd VI, 10B, 9C, 7B, 7C, and 7D. Several other teams also finished in the top three, proving Lauries Volleyball is a force to be reckoned with. Thank you to Mr. Bird and all coaches for their dedication.
Swimming made great strides, with both Senior and Primary teams achieving a strong fifth place finish at the AIC Swimming Championships. A big thank you to Swimming Director, Ms Meg Jacobs, for her leadership in her first year and to Yeronga Pool for their support.
