Dean of Primary-28 March
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Next week we will see Term 1 come to an end. So much has already been packed into nine weeks and we still have, Year 5 & 6 Camp and Year 5 Grandparents Morning to finish off a great term.
In the past fortnight, the Year 5 boys have completed the NAPLAN testing schedule. All boys did a great job, they tried their best and also created an environment that supported each other. Well done boys. Thanks, must also go to all staff who facilitated the tests, especially Jon Tracey for his excellent co-ordination of the preparation and testing schedules.
I also wish to congratulate all boys who have been involved in any of the Term1 co-curricular programs. Sport this week already transitioned into Term 2 offerings. The recent morning music concerts have been excellent, while the Mini Vinnies crew have done amazing work this term leading several successful fundraising initiatives and preparing for upcoming events in Term 2.
REPORT CARDS/ PARENT -TEACHER- INTERVIEWS
Interim Reports will be published in Parent Lounge and Student Café on Friday, 4 April. I hope all boys can be proud of their achievements this term and that their Report Card reflects a strong start to 2025.
Parent-Teacher Interviews will be conducted on Monday, 28 April (1:45-7:30pm) and on Wednesday, 7 May (3:30-7:00pm). Details for booking appointments will be emailed soon. Interviews will be delivered via “Teams” in an online format. The use of technology for Parent- Teacher Interviews in recent years has been overwhelmingly successful. We encourage the boys to be involved where possible and sit with parents for the interviews, to ensure consistent understanding of messages and feedback. Early noticed for parents: that school will conclude at 1:10pm on Monday, 28 April to accommodate the interviews
TERM 2 TRANSPORT—TUESDAYS
There will be no Tuesday afternoon sport/ activities on next week, (1 April) due to year levels being on camp. Training will recommence after the holidays on Tuesday, 22 April. Any changes to weekly transport arrangements from Runcorn, should be communicated to the Primary Office by Tuesday morning (9:00am) at the very latest each week to ensure rolls are correct. All boys should continue to wear HPE uniform to school on Tuesdays next term as was the routine in Term 1.
GRANDPARENTS MORNING (Year 5)
Year 5 Grandparents morning is being held next Friday, 4 April from 8:45am-10:30am. We ask all Grandparents to gather outside the Chapel by 8:45am. The boys will come across and greet their special guests after the class rolls have been marked and they will then walk them to classrooms for the morning. After some activities, a light morning tea supplied will be shared between the boys and their grandparents.
PRIMARY MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION
Please see the invitation in the Events section for the Primary Mother’s Day Celebration being held next term. Further information and reminders will be provided, but please note the date on the invite for early planning.
We will be sharing a heartwarming photo story on the morning, and we would love to include a special photo of you and your son(s). If you have a cherished photo that you'd like to share, please send it to primary@slc.qld.edu.au by Friday, 25 April.
In this Edition of the Primary Newsletter, you can also read about Curriculum Updates, Music, Events, Primary Leaders Spotlight and Laurie Journey winners.
We are looking forward to a really positive finish to the term next week.
Regards
Cameron Wigan
