Primary Leaders News-Spotlight

SPOTLIGHT - Student Leaders

Our Primary Spotlight for this cycle is the High Five Challenge. In Year 6, we have been doing the high five challenge. This is where we give high fives/fist pumps/handshakes to be friendly and help make genuine connections. This helps us with making a bond and connection with mates and peers in both Year 6 and Year 5. It is our end of year challenge. In our IBL groups we need to work as a team and get around each other by high fiving each other. Students in Year 6 and in Year 5 can high five each other even though they are in different grades. This will build bonds, connections and relationships across the whole of primary. The two Gaffas, Mr O’Toole and Mr Cabassi, have a handshake that they do every morning and afternoon so that they feel connected to each other.  Another focus that we are incorporating to Primary is called ‘Big Ups’. This is when we call someone out for doing something good and give them a public shout out for their behaviour/effort. This will call out boys’ good behaviour which would otherwise go unnoticed and therefore it will lead to more people showing kindness.
